Zodiac Signs- Legit Or Sham?

I’m sure we’ve all heard about “zodiac signs” or “sun signs”, and each of us has our own zodiac sign. The position of the Sun relative to Earth when a person is born determines their zodiac sign. The zodiacs are 12 constellations which can be observed from Earth at different times during the year, including:

Aries (March 21 - April 19)

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

Leo (July 23 - August 22)

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)

Libra (September 23 - October 22)

Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)

In our generation, most of us probably know about these zodiac signs and their associated personality traits through sources like memes, and it is a highly debated controversy as some people believe that a person’s birthday determines their personality whereas others believe that there is no science to support this. For example, I have a friend who would take care not to get too close to people whose zodiac sign is Aries, because Aries is associated with toxicity. There are enough people who have pre-made assumptions about anyone new they may meet on the basis of nothing but their birthdays. This seems prejudiced and unfair, but it is also important to understand where they are coming from.

According to astrology, each zodiac sign is associated with specific traits, strengths, weaknesses, and behavioral patterns. It can hold personal and cultural significance for many individuals as it can be a guide for self-exploration, self-reflection, and a means of connecting with others who share similar beliefs. It is also argued that even though it may not be explained by science, most people with the same zodiac sign tend to have similar traits. For example, according to astrology, Virgos tend to be overly organized and tidy. As a Virgo myself, I can confirm that I tend to get obsessive with my organization, especially when I’m up at 3 am trying to stack my clothes perfectly in my wardrobe. A couple of my closest friends are also Virgos, and are the only ones who understand my need to organize my pencils before I can start studying for an exam. Similarly, a lot of people do tend to exhibit the traits as prescribed by their Zodiac signs, and this can be a reason for believing in astrology.

Stay tuned to understand the other side of the coin, and why this logic may not actually hold true!
